Mark Kowalchuk
Mark Kowalchuk is a Canadian illustrator and graphic artist based out of Calgary, Alberta, growing up in Thunder Bay, Ontario and attending art school in the East of Canada. Studying and completing a degree in fine arts at Lakehead University and a 3year diploma in design at George Brown College, Mark gained the experience and confidence to enter the print, sport and clothing industry in later years.
After starting the skateboard company ‘Artschool’ 6years ago with Jeff Talbo this business partner, Mark has found success selling his own designs through a variety of skate shops in Canada and the USA as well as collaborating with nearly every major snowboard and skate brand. In summer 2017, Mark was featured in Thrasher Magazine’s canvas section and in Snowboard Business’ Flight of the Art article.
In recent years Mark has partnered with Swedish heavy metal band In Flames, illustrating their last album cover as well as joining them on their recent European tour painting live on stage during their shows. The unique piece of artwork produced at each show was auctioned off with all proceeds going towards Cancer research. As well as being the bands artist, Mark and Anders, the In Flames lead singer, have created a clothing line called Clayman Ltd–shipping around the world from their online store.
